Tequila Cero

Cero is a 0% alcohol tequila I created for the JDO Raw student competition in 2019. As the brief was looking for a non-alcoholic spirit brand to capture the mindset of a generation Z audience, I decided to design a non-alcoholic tequila.

Because of tequila’s popularity and its unisex and youthful appeal, I decided this would be the perfect spirit to work with. I wanted to turn something associated with a bad hangover and make it non-alcoholic, without losing any of the fun of the drink itself. To me this meant creating something new, young and colourful. A generation Z audience is a generation of people who are getting full time jobs and leaving education, thus being forced to grow up a little bit. This is why I wanted my branding to be totally opposite to that. Non-alcoholic drinks are a great way for young people who have a guilty conscience from a messy weekend or have work the next day to enjoy a night out with friends and feel mature about it. With the slogan ‘all the fun without the mess’ Cero focuses on people enjoying their night without the repercussions of a normal alcoholic tequila.
